Scrap wood Christmas tree
It's almost Christmaaaas! I started my holiday break today so this will be my last video of the year but fear not I'm back in the new year with even more do it yourself decor ideas for your home. But my last tutorial of 2016 might be one of my favourites of the year. Made from leftover pieces of timber and some concrete this scrap wood tree is pure up-cycling and will look great on your mantel piece.
You can make the tree as big or small as you like just use whatever wood you have left over, the pieces I've used are pine batten, ply cut offs and grey timber I found at the bottom of my scrap pile. Have a look at the video to see how you can make your own
I love the colour combination of the plane pine and grey timber with the concrete base. And without including the curing time of the concrete this tree only takes you half an hour to make. I love simple decoration for Christmas and this scrap wood tree fits the bill perfectly.
The base is made from concrete to give the tree a nice industrial edge. If you don't want to work with concrete you can also attach the base to a cross of wood or stick it in a vase of pebbles.
What are your Christmas decorations like? Do you go full on sparkle and gold? Do you like traditional decoration or do you go for the bright coloured kitsch ones? Would love to see your tree's! I will be having a little blog break over the holidays but you can still find me on Instagram with some festive decor tips.
I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and a very happy and crafty New Year!! xx Hester
