Kids play, DIY coffee bar and shop
I just realised I haven’t post anything in several months!! I have been filming tutorials, like this one, but never got around editing them into videos. I was busy writing a new book :D more on that in a different post.
Do you remember the toy shop I build my toddler at the beginning of lockdown? She kept asking me to go shopping so I build her, her own store and it was a great success. It provided hours of fun while we were stuck indoors. You can find the tutorial here.
Several weeks ago I saw a picture of a play coffee bar and thought wouldn’t that be cute! So I immediately set out to upgrade Kiki’s shop into a little restaurant. Have a look at the video below to see how I got to work with my little assistant changing up the shop.
Editing a video I shot back in August makes me long for the day you can go outside without a coat on, also Kiki has changed SO much since I filmed this!
The coffee bar has been a great success though, she has played with it every single day since I build it. Sometimes it is a coffee bar, sometimes an ice cream store or a grocery store. She loves playing shop keep!
Playing shop with Kiki is like a comedy sketch, I ask for a coffee and she says ‘No you get an ice cream!’ Can I have a piece of bread? ‘No you get cheese’ :D
When we started doing play dates again the bar became even a bigger success, she plays with it for ages with her little friends. I even got her a toy card reader so she can do contactless payment, I did got charged £123 for a smoothie the other day though :)
As you can see in the video I am rather impulsive when it comes to my builds and make it up as I go along. Hence me making legs for the bar that I didn’t end up using. And changing the whole design around when it was time to put the bar together, it all works out in the end though and I’m loving how the coffee bar looks in the room.
Kiki was a great little assistant when building, don’t worry she wasn’t around any power tools beside the screwdriver. She especially loves the tape measure and keeps checking if I took good measurements. Do you like building with your little ones around?
