Wallpaper hack, costumize your wallpaper
My guest bedroom makeover is well under way, two weeks ago you saw me turn a boring divan bed base into a rustic bed with lots of storage and today I'm adding colour to the walls.
I like a statement wall and you have probably noticed from previous posts I love using wallpaper, adding a patterned or photo printed paper just gives such an instant lift to a room. For the guest room I was toying with the idea of using a concrete look wallpaper but the more I thought about it the more I thought it might be a bit to cold for the room with its bare floorboards and rustic looking bed. A bit of colour might instead be needed to create a cozy room. As jeans will be the underlaying theme of the room a denim look or blue patterned paper was needed so I headed to my one stop wallpaper shop, Wallpaper direct. With thousands of papers to choose from they always have what you are looking for and it didn't take long for me to spot this geometric gem from the Albany symmetry line. The design is called Vertex and with its distressed colour effect and indigo pattern it is perfect for my guest room. I just thought it could use a tiny bit more colour to make the design even more interesting so have a look at my wallpaper hack and how I made the design my own.
What do you think? Isn't that the easiest thing to do? You can customize any paper you have on your walls with some paint left overs, felt tip pens and washi tape. I choose yellow, orange as pink as accent tones as they go great with the indigo blue of the paper, what colours would you have used? If you skip the paint and just work with washi tape you can keep changing the accent colours with the season! As you can see on my trial piece of paper above my tape was slightly to wide for the pattern, on the wall I simply trimmed the tape to size.

Do you think you might start scribbling on your own wallpaper? :) I just used tree colours for now but I think I might add some more tones come summer, just to freshen up the room even more. The guest room is slowly getting there, I just have to make new curtains, a bed spread and maybe add a chair or a rug and then it's finished! Plenty more to do in my house though so I'll be back next week with a new video hope to see you then! x Hester
