Hygge your bed with layering
Advertorial
Do you look through your favourite interior magazines or Pinterest and drool over pictures of those beautifully made beds? Do you keep reading about hygge and want to add some of that to your bed? Nothing looks as cozy and inviting as a stylishly made bed that just screams come lounge in me. But strangely enough most people still opt for a standard duvet set when making their bed. While there is nothing wrong with two matching cushions and duvet cover you can have so much fun with colour. Let me show you how I use separates in complementing colours to create a bed worthy of being in a magazine and sure to put a bit of hygge in your life.
Doesn't the bed look like you just want to grab a cup of tea, a book and just lounge around? Curl up in your cashmere socks and forget about the cold weather outside? I love the grey, dusty pinks and beige tones together. Great for a wintery styled bed and the colours also go great with the timber of my bed frame. (if you missed the tutorial of how I transformed the bedframe from white to textured wood click here)
I used the Belledorm bedding from Rooi.com, they are a great quality cotton that you can order as separates in a wide variety of colours. I went for the muted tones but there are a lot more colour options on their website. Rooi has a great selection of cotton homewares, scarfs, stationary, home accessories and even dog beds. Think Kermit might have to have a little browse on the website, although it seems he is already enjoying the bamboo throw :)
What would your ideal bed look like? Would you layer different tones of colour like I did? The winter just asks for a super cozy bed, a lovey warm and comfy place to chill and read your favourite book. To make your bed look cozy, or add a flair of hygge, you really need to work with different textures. The bamboo throw is one of the softest blankets I've ever had, the layering with a flat sheet also adds to the cozy effect. And don't make your bed look to neat, you want it to look inviting don't do neat tucked in corners, you don't live in a hotel :)
I'll be off to chill in my beautiful bed but will be back next week with a new video, see you then! xx Hester
