coffee cup jar tutorial

Wooooohooooo! From today you can find my new book Crafting with Mason jars in shops worldwide!!!! And to celebrate I'll be showing you how to make my favourite project of the book the coffee cup jar!

If you follow the blog and my social media you would have seen little sneak peeks here and there but now I can finally show you a full project from the book. You can find 35+ crafts in the book so it was tricky picking my favourite. I adore the little animal spice shakers, the reclaimed wood solar light for the garden and the blueberry cake in a jar but the coffee cup jar won as who can say no to a steaming hot cup of coffee?

With a little piece of leather, some rivits and an empty jar you can make your own mug. I can completely see this jar being used around campfires, toasting marshmellows while somebody is strumming a guitar....mmmm. I might get a bit carried away there but if you like a bit of outdoor lifestyle in your everyday life simple make a leather cuff for your jar :)

I used empty jam jars for my coffee cup jars but you can easily use a Mason jar, Kilner jar or any other glass vessel you have lying around. You make the leather sleeve to the dimensions of you jar so you can use whatever shape or size you like. That's why I like using jars in my crafts, we all have lot's of them around the house, lining our pantry selves or maybe even disappearing in the recycling. Turn those empty vessels into something useful!! The book has tips on how to use jars to display items, how to use them in cooking, to decorate your home& garden and how to use them for gifts. Want to have a browse in the book? Check out my sneak peek video I posted a few weeks ago here.

But back to the coffee cup jars, have a look at the video to see how you can make your own

Isn't that a lot easier then you thought? Okey you need rivits, a rivit anvil and setting tool but they can easily be purchased online or in a good craft store. You certainly will have original cups!
