Ikea Kalas bowl hack
How cute are the new colours the Ikea Kalas plates and bowls come in!! I never bought the Kalas range as I’m not very into the primary colours they used to do but know Ikea has launched the pastel tones I ordered me some right away, and for £1.25 for 6 bowls you can’t go wrong can you :-)
But…. I wouldn’t be an Ikea hacker if I didn’t think the bowls could be made even cuter. Have a look at my super easy decorating trick.
How sweet is that! I’m loving using the temporary tattoos to give the bowl a little bit more character, as you could see in the video it was hard to stop sticking!
I used a mix of tattoo brands, the little fruit ones are from Meri Meri. The autumnal animals and leaves are from Djeco, the monsters are an Ebay find and the dog ones are from Londji.
Like I said in the video Kiki isn’t the best eater so anything to make diner time more fun is a win in my books. I love how she can learn new words while looking at her cutlery or even do a bit of counting.
Once the bowls are decorated they are strictly hand wash only and only decorate where the tattoo won’t come in touch with food or utensils. So just decorate the outside of the bowl and the far end of the spoons, knives and forks.
If after a while the tattoo starts peeling, it’s time to wash it off. Just some washing up liquid and a sponge will do the trick.
I’m liking the idea of decorating the bowls for a themed birthday party and special ones for Christmas and other holidays. Once the party is over just wash the tattoo’s away and apply new ones.
I love the Meri Meri tattoo’s but I was also very impressed by the Djeco ones, and for £4 for 2 sheets of them they were a bargain!
Now what else can I decorate….
