Last minute Advent calendar
Forgot it is December in a few days? Me too!! But don’t worry I got your back with this simple to make Advent calendar. Made from materials you probably have in your craft stash or otherwise can pick up in your haberdashery.
I’ve previously made Advent calendars that have presents in them like this wreath, the little cardboard village and the Advent tree. This year I wanted something simple that just involves moving a number so I can up with this minimal truck design. Black sharpie on a piece of white canvas with bright coloured presents that have to be moved into the truck. The closer to Christmas the fuller the trunk!
The piece of canvas (you could use sturdy cotton) is 65 cm x 40 cm, you will also need a dowel or flat piece of timber, a piece of string, sticky back velcro, felt off cuts, a sharpie, pencil, scissors and your sewing machine.
Kiki really liked playing with the numbers! Bit tricky photographing an active toddler in low light though ;-) Curious what she will think of being allowed to only move one number on the first of December though..
If you want to make the calendar a bit sturdier you could stitch the velcro to the canvas by running it under your sewing machine. The sticky back velcro holds well but might not withstand very active toddler play.
Will you be making an Advent calendar this year?
