Neutral Nordic Easter decor ideas
It’s almost Easter! Our second one in lockdown restrictions so I thought I would go all out by not bringing you one but 4 different craft ideas. And while normally Easter is all about the yellows and pastel tones this year I thought I would go more neutral and just use whites, beige and natural wood tones. Have a look at the video to see all my craft ideas and the finished table.
Which project is your favourite? I absolutely love the lotus flower branch but if i have to choose the bunny ear egg crowns are my fav. So simple to make but it makes your table setting so special.
Do you have any Easter traditions? A dish or decoration you always make? My Dutch family always goes all out for Easter but unfortunately this will be the second year in a row that we can’t see each other due to travel restrictions. My favourite tradition is that of ‘eier tikken’ egg ticking, you have to hold your boiled egg and smash it into somebody else’s egg. You can only eat your egg if it cracks :D
No egg cup no problem, as you can see you can just use a normal bowl too, just add a bit of moss (or shredded paper) to make a little nest. The wooden egg cup you see in the photos is super easily made yourself as you can see in the video. Just a piece of scrap wood and a paddle drill.
We also do a big Easter egg hunt (chocolate ones) in a near by forrest, so much fun especially as we are not allowed to leave until all eggs have been found and there is always an uncle who stashes a few eggs away in his coat.
Let’s hope we can have a big family Easter again next year. In the mean time my lovely set table will have to do :)
I really like the eggs with the random bit of colour on them, this is a project fun to do with your kids too. Let them paint the eggs and when they are dry you can draw some flowers and branches over the paint with a black marker pen.
The egg crowns are made with floral wire, a thin bendable wire that is very easy to work with. if you don’t like the bunny ears you can just make a normal crown and fill it with little flowers.
The paper decorations are another easy make. I used a thicker white paper to draw the bunny shapes on. You then need to cut 4 small circles you fold and glue together. The decorations look cute on the Easter branch but can be used to stick on cards too. I had some spare ones and used them on a few handmade Easter cards that Kiki won’t let me post as she wants them for herself :)
I hope you will have a lovely Easter break, go on a big Easter egg hunt and get to enjoy the sunshine! If you make any of my crafts please send me a picture as would love to see it!
