Photo treasure trail, a fun family activity for the weekend

Photo treasure trail, a fun family activity for the weekend

this post is in collaboration with Very

There are a lot of long weekends coming up this month, if you are looking for ideas what to do, look no further. Kiki and I have a lovely outdoor activity for you, a photo treasure trail.

I grew up on family walks, every weekend my parents would go hiking with my sister and me and my favourite walks were always the ones where you had to look for colourful markers showing you were to go. So when Very asked me to come up with a fun Instax project I immediately thought treasure trail! This is a lovely activity for your next family (or friend) get together. One child photographs natural markers, think trees, buildings etc. so the other children (or adults) can find their way to a special spot.

We set out our trail in the woods, a pretty walk to find a scenic bench were we will be waiting for the other to arrive with a delicious picnic.

Have your child take pictures off flowers, trees, houses and other things that stand out enroute to your end point, for us that was the picnic bench. If you son’t have a woods nearby you can easily set out your trail in the city or a local park too. And remember the walk doesn’t have to be long, the excitement is in finding the items on the polaroids.

Number the photo’s as you set out your route and write instructions on them. These don’t have to be just directions, on the day of our walk it was very muddy so Kiki included a jump in muddy puddles instruction too :D

Once you got your trail set out hand over your photos to your family and friends, while they walk your trail you go back to the picnic bench and set up some delicious treats. Bring plenty of spare film for the Instax camera, so you can take lots of polaroids of your friends and family too, These are such lovely keepsakes to give away after your get together. I have a whole fridge full of lovely snap shots.

Kiki adored taking pictures, the camera is very fool proof to use. After a quick instruction of don’t put your finger in front of the lens or block the flash Kiki was good to go, and she is only 5! I love seeing the things she chose to photograph, the things she finds worthy of a polaroid and what she thinks is a good marker on our trail.

We used the Instax Mini 12 Instant Camera in Lilac Purple link a great little camera that for sure will come with us on many more trips and activities.
