Easy flower arranging with this DIY clay disc

I love just using just a few flowers in a vase but if you don’t have a narrow vase to hand this tiny bouquets often end up looking very sad. So a few weeks ago I made this flower disc out of clay, a thin disc with holes you can place on a vase, or jar, to arrange your flowers in. It worked perfectly!

So when my mum was over last week I thought I have her help me showing you how you can make on too

Think how much fun arranging flowers can be, just a few stems from the garden or the florist and you have a great looking bouquet on your table. In the video tutorial I used two Mason jars but you can use any glass vessel you like. A lemonade glass, jam jar or a standard vase.

I used FIMO clay for the disc but any polymer clay will do, for the small discs in the images above you need around half a pack of FIMO. For the big one with the peony you need a full pack of FIMO.

You also need a baking tray, greaseproof paper, rolling pin, craft knife, a skewer or pen and an oven. Have a look at the video tutorial below to see how to make your own.

So much fun to have my mum in a tutorial!! I think FIMO was one of the first craft products my mum showed me to work with, I made so many animal figurines and earring with the clay. My family is very crafty, I grew up making, baking and building every single day so showing my mu how to make something is going full circle :-)

This larger version is the first disc I made, a trial to see if it would work. I made it from white clay and painted it grey after it was baked. The grey looks so amazing with the pink peony
