Cardboard crafts, road city
In case you have already done all the projects in my Keeping toddlers entertained post I have another, very simple one for you! After assembling Kiki’s new bed I had a massive stack of cardboard, most went straight into the recycling bin but I thought this shallow large box would be perfect to play in. It’s almost like a little play pit ,perfect for messy play but also a great empty canvas to draw a road on!
I used my black marker pen to draw the road on first and then decorated it with little shops, houses, a zoo, a forrest, mountains, a pool and even some of Kiki’s favourite cartoon characters. Can you spot Totoro and Bing?
Have your little ones help you draw the roads, Kiki is only two so she has perfected the scribble, apparently she was drawing Peppa Pig easting an ice cream, but bigger kids can draw the whole road and city themselves. A piece of A4 paper makes a perfect tunnel to push the cars through, tape the short sides to the cardboard with some washi tape.
I love turning cardboard into toys, as soon as Kiki loses interest in her paper toys they go into the recycling bin or get cut up into new makes :) What have you made out of cardboard?
