DIY Doll Spa
Looking for a fun activity for the half term holiday? How about giving the dolls and teddies in your house a spa day! We did this over the summer holiday and it was so much fun. All you need is some cardboard from your recycling bin, some marker pens, glue, tape and some tissues.
l like activities where you spend a bit of time crafting beforehand, we spend around an hour drawing up beauty product and building skin care tubes, a blow drier and a hair curler. Just take some spare cardboard and start creating. Kiki wanted to make an eyeshadow pallet, including a little makeup brush, you can see them in the picture above. She drew her design on the cardboard and I cut it out. We also made little nail polish bottles with the application brush and slices of cucumber for the dolls eyes as it’s not a spa day without cucumber slices . When it was time to start the spa treatments I cut up some fresh cucumber for the human clients of the spa :)
As you can see in the images below we also rolled up a few pieces of cardboard to make a curling wand. Score the back of the cardboard so it’s easier to fold, glue or tape a few pieces together so it looks like a hair tool and use a marker pen to draw the buttons on. The same goes for a DIY blow drier, two toilet rolls stuck together make for a great cardboard blow drier.
My favourite doll beauty product was the sheet masks, a piece of tissue cut the size of your dolls face and then cut holes for the eyes and mouth.Just how cute do the dolls look with their masks on!
As you can see we also had a bowl of warm water to give some of the teddies a bath, add a splash of your favourite bubble bath and add some fresh flowers from the garden if you have any. We also used this bowl (with fresh soapy water) to soak our feet before our foot massages and pedicures. Yes we had all the treatments the dollies got too!
We set up our spa in the back garden but this time of year it might be better indoors. Build a comfy zen spot on your living room floor with blankets and lots of pillows, a little table to hold all your handmade beauty products, some cucumber water and healthy snacks for the human spa guests and of course a relaxing music play list.
A fun, creative and relaxing activity for half term! And if you can persuade your little one to massage your feet you are in for a win :D
