Spring look for my bedroom, Simba Hybrid® Duvet review
With spring finally arriving I thought it was time to give my bed a new look. Something fresh and light, perfect for the longer days and spells of sunshine. When Simba got in touch asking if I would like to review their Hybrid® duvet it was perfect timing, new duvet and a new look!
For a while now I have been wanting to try out two single duvets on my kingsize bed. This is something that is very common in mainland Europe but you don’t often see here. Having your own duvet brings an end to blanket stealers, ending up with only a thin piece of sheet cause the duvet travelled to the other side inside the cover and less sleep disruption. This method of having two duvets is called the Scandinavian Sleep method and is great when you have a different sleep schedule then your partner. I go to bed a lot earlier (and get up a lot earlier) then my partner and by having our own duvets we avoid disturbing each others sleep. He can crawl into bed when Im already asleep without me noticing. Having two duvets is also great when one of you runs hot at night and the other one cold as you can easily wrap yourself up completely or push the covers down if you have your own duvet.
This is where the Simba Hybrid® duvet comes in, as it is amazing in regulating your body heat due to its Stratos® temperature control tech.
When I received my duvets and took them out of their handy storage bags and one side of the duvet felt really different. Almost a bit like the waterproof bedding i put on Kiki’s bed. This slightly stiffer material is the Stratos® heat control technology layer, a fabric that feels instantly cool to the touch. It reacts to your body temperature, dissipating any excess heat to keep you cool but also keeps you nice and warm when you are feeling cold
The Simba Hybrid® duvet felt a lot thinner then the duvet I had on my bed and I was a little bit worried I was going to be cold but I didn’t need to have worried. Although the duvet is a lot lighter and kept me warm and very comfortable. Kiki and I have sleepovers every Saturday ( I know! So much fun!) and I normally have to wrap myself up in several blankets as the airbed makes for a very cold sleep but not with the new duvet, I was very comfortable and warm all night!
So beside its’ Stratos layer the duvet also has a soft, airy middle layer that feels like down but is in fact PET bottle fibre. I love the idea that it’s made from recycled materials although it feels like traditional down. The bottom layer of the duvet is made from a very soft feeling cotton.
The duvet is stitched into squares to prevent the filling clumping. Is machine washable on 40C, another plus point on having a single duvet it fits in your washing machine! Has beautiful blue piping stitched all around the duvet and comes with a label at the foot end so you always know which way round it is supposed to go
The green and white gingham duvet covers make my bed ready for spring, love how the sheets compliment the olive green on the walls without it all looking to heavy. I opted for a slightly brighter green fitted sheet but would love to find a nice patterned one. Does anyone know where I could find one of those? All patterned fitted sheets I have seen so far only come in single sizes or are a bit naf… Maybe I should make my own :D
As per usual I can’t get my camera out without the little one and Kermit trying to get themselves in the shot too. I’ve never met a dog as camera obsessed as Kermit :) Kiki just wanted to get into the bed as she said the duvet was too lovely and soft not to enjoy it and I can’t blame her, the bed is so comfortable I’ve been going to sleep early for the last week as I love the covers so much! :D
