Building your own chairs
I’ve build my own chairs before, there is one in my Salvaged Wood book made from pallet wood and fence posts. But how cool would it be if you can grow your own chairs!
I like featuring amazing builders and makers and show some of my favourites in my Meet the maker series. ManoManoUk, the website with the largest choice of DIY products, has started The Amazing Making Of series. And in their latest episode they showcase Gavin Munro, Gavin grows not only chairs but also lamps and even tables on his 6 acres of field. Have a look at the video below to see how he grows furniture.
How amazing is that!! Okey you have to wait a while, picking up a plank of wood and a saw is a lot quicker. But how cool would it be owning one of these organic chairs!
I can see of one these chairs looking amazing in a modern rustic interior, or in a minimalistic space so the chair can really take all the attention is deserves. If you could grow a piece of furniture what would it be? I think a side table will look great in my interior but getting the top straight enough to balance your cup of coffee must be a real challenge, if only I had Gavin’s patience!
