Pallet wood box from Made with Salvaged Wood
Last week I gave you a peek behind the scenes of the making my new book Made with Salvaged Wood (if you missed that video click here) To celebrate the release of my 4th book I have an exclusive tutorial for you today! It's one of my favourite projects from the book, the pallet wood display box!
I love this box, not only as it's super easy to make but also cause it's so versatile. Use the box to display your succulent collection, fill it with glass jars and flowers, have it on your coffee table to keep your remotes and magazines organised or use it on the dining table to hold condiments, cutlery and napkins. Or how about keeping jars full of crayons and colouring pencils in the box? I recon you can think of a few more uses for this display box!
As you can see in the video I took my pallet apart in a bit of a cheat way. You can use a crowbar to pry away the slats from the sides but this is a lot of work and as I only need short pieces anyway I simple used my jigsaw to cut away the pieces of timber.
The display box is only one of the projects from my new book Made with Salvaged Wood, there are 34 more tutorials in there! From small projects like scrap wood air plant holders and house shaped candle sticks to doors being upcycled to a bench and a wardrobe. Have a look here for more book info.
Do you like using salvaged wood for your makes? What have your turned pallet wood into? I would love to see your builds! If you have ever made something from my books or web tutorials please share it on Instagram or Twitter with the tag #myhestershandmadehome
I'll be back next week with a new tutorial see you then! x Hester
